backupoffmericky asked: hi there, i absolutely love your work, and i am also a fellow screen printer. i've only been printing for a couple of months, and i am really interested in your processes of how you make your designs, eg. do they start life as sketches, or do they start life in a computer program? it would be really helpful if you could give me a little bit of help! thanks a lot! :)
I discuss the creation of individual posters in great detail within blog posts hosted on my personal/portfolio site: http://www.milestsang.com/blog/.
I always start on paper and try to keep things analog as long as possible. My style tends to look glossy or artificial if I begin directly in the computer. That being said, there are some amazing things only a computer can do (especially for screen-printing) so I discourage people from focusing too much on specs in favour of just getting your hands dirty. In the case of drawing, I think it’s often easier to just try something and see if it works rather than to over-consider.
